About CEAC

CEAC, Xiamen is a non-profit art center with an artist–in–residence program open to visual artists, architects, (fashion) designers, curators, composers and writers. The art center’s exhibition calendar consists of ten to twelve shows annually, with supplementary programs including lectures and workshops, outdoor video and film festivals, and concerts.

CEAC’s main task is to establish contact between Chinese and Western cultures. CEAC residents come from all over the world, but right from the beginning the Netherlands has been the most important European country when it comes to this exchange of artists and art teachers. Dutch artists and teachers have been working for varying periods of time at CEAC and the Xiamen Art College, and young Chinese artists and teachers have been studying and teaching at Dutch art academies, and master schools of art and residencies such as the Rijksakademie, a world famous residency for international artists.

Since 2010 CEAC has been organizing events in other Chinese cities once a year. In 2010 the exhibition Dialogue - Red Snowball/1 with twenty-three European (Dutch based) and Chinese artists in the Dutch Culture Center in Shanghai as part of the World Expo was organized. In 2011 an exhibition with forty-eight international artists was held in Quanzhou in southern Fujian province. Rolling Snowball/3 in Guangzhou is the third exhibition.

This event was made possible with the support of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou, Redtory, the Mondriaan Fund, the Pauwhoffonds/Overvoorde-Gordonstichting.
